Gaining confidence and new technical skills

Lavanya Dillibabu joined the Volunteer West team in April 2021 as a CRM Technical Developer. Little did she imagine, five months on, she would gain much more than the technical skills she had initially sought when she applied for the role.

With over four years experience in Information Technology as a technical developer, Lavanya felt it was time to further develop her interests and knowledge in Power Apps and CRM systems. When she came across Volunteer West’s job ad on Seek for a CRM Technical Developer, she just knew she had to grab the opportunity – she applied for the role and was successful in her application.

Even though I only had experience in Microsoft Dynamics – Finance and Operations, Volunteer West believed in me and offered me the opportunity to work on the Sales CRM platform and learn Power Apps.

The role was not without its challenges. Being new to Sales and Power Apps, Lanvanya invested a significant amount of time and effort into learning about the new platform. She eventually managed to develop competent skills in Power Apps and Dynamics 365 Sales (Techno-Functional) platform which have helped her land her next role.

“Even though the role was challenging at first, having friendly colleagues and a supportive leadership team who were always approachable was instrumental in helping me achieve what I have in the last few months,” says Lavanya.

“In addition to the new technical skills I have learned, I think the confidence I have gained is the biggest achievement from my short time working at Volunteer West.”

When we asked Lavanya to sum up her experience at Volunteer West in three words, here’s what she had to say:

“Learning, collaboration and teamwork”.

The Volunteer West team could not agree more! Thank you for your help on the VolConnect project, Lavanya, and we wish you all the best in your new role.
