Practicing Cultural Inclusion

Practicing cultural inclusion is essential if Volunteer Involving Organizations (VIOs) want to build meaningful relationships with their multicultural volunteers and the communities they serve. It requires a sustained effort from all members of the organization, but for volunteer managers and VIOs who are not familiar with working with different cultures, it can be challenging to know where to start.

Our co-design team has identified 6 key areas of consideration when practicing cultural inclusion. These sections can serve as a guide to help VIOs better understand and implement cultural inclusion in their volunteer programs. Additionally, they have been designed to complement the material developed for the volunteer experience module of the toolkit.
