Volunteer West are excited to announce we have partnered with The Melbourne Social Equity Institute at the University of Melbourne, to explore the gender dynamics in volunteering and the coordination and management of volunteers.

This research, conducted by PhD researcher Dominica Meade, will contribute to practice and policy insights at a national level.

The Melbourne Social Equity Institute provides Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarships and other scholarships to students whose interest in social equity issues.

Dominica will be supervised by Dr Brendan Churchill, Senior Research Fellow in the Social and Political Sciences and by Professor Jo Barraket, Director of the Melbourne Social Equity Institute.

We are delighted to welcome and support Dominica, who states “I am very grateful for the opportunity to further my interest in gender and community volunteering practices. I am really looking forward to investigating how the practice can be improved to better serve women.”
