The Volunteering Experience

The Volunteer Experience module is a simplified version of the volunteer life cycle from the national standards, with a particular emphasis on the volunteer's experience. We’ve designed the content to be adaptable, so you can tailor the information to suit your organization's specific needs and requirements.

Understanding the volunteer experience is crucial, especially in the context of multicultural communities. The experience of multicultural volunteers can be different from the experience of other volunteers, and it is important to be aware of these differences in order to create an inclusive and supportive environment. By considering the various stages of the volunteer experience, from recruitment to recognition, you can better understand the needs and expectations of your multicultural volunteers and make changes that positively impact their experience.

In this module, you will explore the three stages of the volunteer experience – before, during and after a volunteer engages with your organisation. You will learn about different perspectives of volunteering and gain insights into how to create a positive and inclusive experience for your multicultural volunteers.
