Afreen, from Volunteering to First Paid Employment
At the Wyndham Volunteer Expo, we connected with Afreen, who began volunteering with IPC Health in an administration and reception support role.

Through her volunteering, Afreen answered phone calls, welcomed clients, managed bookings and supported the administration team. Along the way, she built confidence, gained local experience and developed practical workplace skills.
We were delighted to hear that Afreen has now secured her first paid job, a short-term contract that she sees as the beginning of a bigger journey.
What was especially meaningful was that Afreen continues to volunteer with IPC Health while also stepping into paid employment. On the day, she generously shared her story with others attending the expo, encouraging people to consider volunteering as a way to learn, grow and take steps toward employment.
Her story is a wonderful reminder that volunteering can provide more than experience. It can create connection, confidence, routine and opportunities for the future.
For many people, volunteering becomes a supportive pathway into community participation, skill development and employment.
