Celebrating Diversity, Connection and Community at our organisation
As we celebrated Cultural Diversity Week, Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS) hosted a meaningful gathering, bringing staff and community members together to honour our diverse backgrounds, reflect on the journeys that shape us, and celebrate the shared future we continue building together.
Through stories, music, dance and food from around the world, the event was a powerful reminder of the richness and importance of diversity within AMCS and the wider community. It was a beautiful day of connection, belonging and pride in who we are and where we come from.
As part of the panel discussion, Phuong from Volunteer West shared reflections from both her personal journey and her experience working alongside people from many different cultural backgrounds through volunteering and community participation.

The discussion highlighted how community connection and volunteering can help people feel welcomed, build confidence, create friendships and strengthen understanding across cultures and generations.
At Volunteer West and Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS), diversity is not only something we promote through our work and community engagement. It is deeply embedded in who we are as an organisation, in our staff, our stories, our relationships and the communities we walk alongside every day.
Events like this are a reminder of the importance of creating spaces where people feel welcomed, respected and valued, and where different cultures, experiences and perspectives are genuinely celebrated and embraced.
