Something you should know about Sue is that she gives and gives…and gives.

Sue has 25 years worth of experience volunteering in Melbourne’s West. From grassroots football clubs like Hoppers Crossing F.C, to local hospitals like Sunshine Hospital, Sue is currently dedicating her time (and a lot of it) to Tarneit Titans Football Club.

At the Tarneit Titans Football Club, Sue wears many hats.

“As I am part of the committee, I am here at least 4 nights during the week for training and am also required on game days.”

The volunteering roles she currently upholds include:

  • Club Secretary – Minutes, organising the committee meetings, correspondence with WRFL in all facets.

  • Junior Administrator – Making sure all Junior players are registered correctly, assist other Team Managers with game day needs and questions.

  • Senior Team Manger – Requires Sue to be at every home & away games

  • Match Day Manager – Its early mornings on home game days where Sue is required to be at the ground to help set up - even on Sundays mornings for Junior games.

“I am available for players, coaches, spectators, umpires & other volunteers if they have any questions or assist them in any way I can.”

Why does Sue volunteer?

She believes volunteering is important to local communities and sports clubs.

“We are not paid employees, we are here to help make a difference and support surrounding communities.”

She used to watch her brothers play Football at clubs since she was 12 years old and always helped out however she could. This carried onto volunteering at her children’s sports trainings and events. Even now her children are adults, she has carried on volunteering at the clubs because of the joy it brings her.

When Sue volunteered at the Sunshine Hospital, she did it to say thank you.

“My daughter needed to have an operation, and this was the only way I could show my gratitude. There were sad moments when you see people who are unwell or terminally ill. Volunteering was a way of me giving back.”
